My eyes still get the occasional 'eye goop,' or 'stringies,' or 'discharge.' From everything that I've read, stringy discharge is associated with dry eye so I do not see it as something that will simply disappear. However, it is greatly under control.
How did you cure your dry eyes?
Keratoconjunctivitis sicca or dry eyes, is something that is not unusual for the elderly and for individuals that wear contact lenses. However, if you do not fall into those two categories, that does not mean you are not prone to this condition. From the area of where you live to your daily habits, anyone is subject to dry eyes and it is not something that seems to be preventable at this time. Most individuals simply use their eye drops of choice in handling dry eyes or in severe cases, they have punctual plugs inserted into their tear ducts.
Why did you create this blog?
When I first developed dry eye, I had no idea what was going on. I wore Acuvue Oasys with Hydraclear Plus for a few years and on one specific occasion, my eyes became bloodshot red. Never having slept with my contacts, a pounding sensation would serge into one of my eyes. (Sounds bad, I know). Searching for an answer, I scoured the internet and came upon Acuvue Oasys Lenses Cause Red Eyes. Furthermore, I have since frequented many doctor's offices and spent a good amount of money in doing so.
Visiting ophthalmologists/optometrists costs money.
What I found interesting: when I finally stumbled upon an optometrist that I felt could assist me in my condition, everything that this person told me, I found online. From the type of eye drops to take (TheraTears, Restasis, etc.), to fish oil tablets, to using warm compresses to even having the option of inserting punctual plugs. I am in no way saying, save some money and restrain from visiting a doctors office. Maybe I was lucky that this particular optometrist could confirmed the method to take in handling my condition.
In any case, I wanted to record the process that I would go through that would lead me to healthy eyes. I knew others out there suffer from the same condition, so why not share it with everyone? Information should be accessible to all.
